How do you feel about risk? The "Personal Risk Assessment," is one tool to help determine your  Risk Tolerance. Various types of risk and return are available for your investments.

Ask yourself the following questions:

  • Do you consider yourself to be a conservative, moderate or aggressive investor?
  • How much liquidity is needed?
  • How is your  staying power, especially in an unfavorable market?
  • How soon do you  need to reach your investment goals?
  • Can you afford to lose all or part of his or her investment?
  • What effect would a substantial loss have on your lifestyle?
  • How do you feel about taking on additional risk to achieve potentially greater return?
  • How do you feel about risking the loss of purchasing power?

I am worried that my income from earnings and investments
will not be able to keep pace with inflation.

I want my investments to produce maximum income for me now.

I have enough income for now; but I want my investments to
produce maximum income for me at retirement.

I want my investments to produce maximum capital gains
 (appreciation) for me.

I am more concerned about returns than about getting my money
out of my investments in case of an economic recession or
 stock market crash.

I am more concerned about yield than about having a guarantee
regarding the income from my investments.

I am more interested in yield than in the ability to convert my
investments to cash on short notice if necessary.

I am concerned about being able to shelter my current earnings from
taxes.  Additional income or capital growth is less important to me.

I am greatly concerned that my dependents be fully protected
regardless of what happens to my investments.

I want to protect myself against catastrophic losses by not
putting all of my investment eggs into one basket.
