Shortly, after graduation Mr. Chalom entered the insurance business, as a captive agent with Security First Group. His first assignment was to service retirement plans for government employees. Mr. Chalom never strayed far from his beginnings in the insurance business. As an independent financial services professional Mr. Chalom founded Retirement Council, Inc. in 1991. Mr. Chalom prides himself in helping people accumulate and preserve wealth. He accomplishes this objective by confidential evaluation of the client’s situation and application of the appropriate insurance and investment products. Mr. Chalom is the author of numerous articles on the 403(b) Tax Sheltered Annuity program and the need to plan for retirement. He has also had articles published in the Coral Springs/Parkland Forum. Mr. Chalom has been included in both the Strathmore’s Who’s Who Registry of Business Leaders, Who’s Who on CD-Rom and Prestige International Who's Who Registries Outstanding Professionals. He has spoken before the South Florida Society Institute of Certified Financial Planners. Mr. Chalom has appeared on various radio and television programs and was named the Business Person of The Week by the Coral Springs/Parkland Forum. Mr. Chalom has been quoted by the Sun-Sentinel Newspaper and the Florida Underwriter Magazine. In addition Mr. Chalom is an approved instructor by the State of Florida Department of Insurance to teach professional continuing education courses to insurance agents. He is also an approved moderator for the Life Insurance Training Council. Mr. Chalom received his Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF) designation in 1991 and his Chartered Life Underwriter, (CLU®) designation in 2007. In addition, to being a licensed life
insurance agent, Mr. Chalom holds Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, (FINRA),
formerly the National Association Securities Dealers, (NASD)
series 6, 22, 66 and 26 registrations, a
mortgage brokers license and a real estate salespersons license. FINRA
series 6 is required to sell mutual funds and variable annuities. FINRA series 22
is required to sell limited partnerships. FINRA series 66 enables a
registered representative to be a registered investment advisor and sell
mutual funds and variable annuities throughout the United States. FINRA series 26 is required to be a registered
principal. Registered principals have the ability to manage other registered
representatives for compliance purposes. Mr. Chalom currently supervises
registered representatives as a branch manager for Veritrust Financial, LLC. Mr. Chalom is a graduate of the prestigious Leadership in Life Institute, (LILI), created by the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, (NAIFA). Each LILI, sponsored by NAIFA, accepts a limited number of carefully selected applicants from among its 60,000 members. The six month program fosters a multifaceted approach to self-improvement. The objective of the program is to help individuals become more productive and healthier in their personal relationships, business relationships and community involvement. Mr. Chalom believes very strongly about helping to promote the mission of his professional association, the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA). NAIFA is a grass roots organization founded in 1890 to promote advocacy, professional development, ethical standards, community service and personal growth for members of the insurance and financial services community. The infrastructure of the nearly 55,000 member NAIFA federation consists of more than 700 local and state associations across the United States. Mr. Chalom serves his association on the local, state and national levels. On the local level he serves as the President. on the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors-Broward, (NAIFA-Broward) board of directors, He previously served as President for the 2000-2001 and 2003-2004 membership years and National Committeeman for the membership years from 2004-2005 to 2009-2010. He has achieved national recognition for his work in public relations and was the recipient of his local association's 1996-1997 and 2004-2005 Member of the Year Award. On the state level Mr. Chalom serves as a director-at- large on the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors-Florida, (NAIFA-Florida), board of directors. He has served as the Public Relations and Community Service Chairperson for FAIFA, for the 2002-2003 membership year. On the national level, Mr. Chalom serves on the prestigious Communications Committee for NAIFA. In addition, Mr. Chalom maintains affiliations in the Society of Financial Service
Professionals, the National Tax Sheltered Account Association. and the
Insurance and Financial Advisor's Political Action Committee.
